Information about solar energy system installations in both the unincorporated and incorporated areas of the County can be found on the County's Energy web page and on the Solarize Delta County website.
In the unincorporated areas of the County, no building permit is required for installation of solar energy systems serving residences or businesses, although State electrical inspections are required as described on this page.
The unincorporated area of Delta County is divided into two providers:

Work within a County right-of-way such as boring, cutting, weed control requires a utility permit. Applications can be obtained/submitted online (see our Utility Permits web page for details) or in–person at the Planning Department.
Submit completed applications to the Planning Department. Applications are routed to the appropriate County Road and Bridge District for review, fee assessment and then approval. A financial guarantee is required (bond, letter of credit, County names as additionally-insured, etc.). Work should not commence until a signed permit is issued.
Wireless Communication Facilities
Delta County is preparing a resolution with regulations relative to Wireless Communication Facilities. Meanwhile, projects involving wireless communication facilities will be processed with public hearings by the Planning Commission for a recommendation to the Board of County Commissioners.
